Do you know the difference between a hybrid, and a plug-in hybrid?

If you love Ford vehicles, now is the time to learn. The automaker recently announced plans to bring 13 new electric models to market by 2020.

The Ford Fusion Hybrid is a standard hybrid car. It has both an electric motor, and an internal combustion engine. It seamlessly switches between them, or uses them in conjunction to optimize fuel efficiency. The battery doesn't need to be charged, because it regains energy automatically through regenerative braking.

The Ford Fusion Energi is a plug-in hybrid. It also has both an electric motor and internal combustion engine, but relies more heavily on the battery. If you only make short trips, you can run it on battery alone and never have to fill the tank. For longer trips, the vehicle acts like a standard hybrid, using gas to extend driving range. These must be plugged in to charge for full fuel-saving benefit.
