Ford Pro announced the launch of their holistic charging system for commercial fleets. The system gears towards providing commercial fleets with the hardware and the software to manage fleet electrification. According to Ford Pro, the commercial arm of the Ford brand, the idea is to help commercial fleet owners create a foolproof fleet charging infrastructure and later help manage the charging of commercial vehicles through their software.
Better Depot Charging for Commercial Fleets
Ford Pro Charging seeks to help businesses that want to transition from internal combustion to electric vehicles. Although customers have embraced Ford EV vehicles, such as the E-Transit and the F-150 Lightning, there is a need to provide the charging infrastructure that makes the transition to these EV vehicles possible.
The new system relies on data from the vehicle to understand energy needs for commercial fleets and schedule for efficient charging. Using the software, fleet managers can decide which vehicles to charge and for how long based on the fleet operation schedules. The software considers several variables to ensure that every vehicle has power and that you save as much energy charging the fleet as possible.
Growing EV Fleets
Ford plans to sell about 900,000 EVs by 2030. Most of these vehicles will enjoy the convenience of depot charging; with the charging sites that Ford Pro Charging helps create. If a business doesn't have the budget to create depot charging sites, Ford Charging Pro seeks to help them charge on the road at more than 70,000 public charging ports around the U.S. Those who wish to charge their vehicles at home also benefit from Ford Pro Charging as Ford Pro helps them design and install a home charging system.
The system interoperates with different vehicle classes from trucks to forklifts. The integrated software can help you monitor charge rate, charge times, battery condition and alert you when necessary.
